We are seeking 6 years of experience Senior Embedded Linux Engineer to lead the deployment, update, and platform reliability efforts behind a next-generation scientific instrument used for advanced protein analysis.
This role is focused on the Linux platform running inside a sophisticated hardware product used by researchers around the world. The ideal candidate has extensive experience deploying Linux-based systems to field devices and understands how to build reliable deployment pipelines, manage operating system rollouts, and support long-term maintainability across a deployed fleet of instruments.

What You'll Do- Own the deployment strategy for Linux-based scientific instruments
- Build and maintain production-ready Ubuntu 24.04 system images
- Design and improve device deployment workflows from manufacturing through field installation
- Develop scalable deployment processes that support instruments deployed across multiple customer sites
- Standardize deployment procedures to ensure consistency across all instrument platforms
- Design and implement robust software deployment and update mechanisms
- Drive the transition from package-based updates to atomic / A-B deployment architectures
- Build deployment processes that support automated rollback and recovery
- Ensure safe deployment of operating system, kernel, and application updates
- Support deployment validation, testing, and release processes
- Ensure reliable system boot, recovery, and long-term operational stability
- Improve reliability of USB devices, peripherals, and external storage interactions
- Support network storage integrations including NFS and SMB
- Troubleshoot deployment-related and system-level issues across deployed instruments
- Proactively identify and resolve platform risks before product releases
- 6+ years of experience developing and supporting Embedded Linux systems
- 5+ years of experience deploying Linux-based systems in production environments
- 5+ years of experience building, maintaining, and distributing Linux OS images for embedded devices or hardware products
- 4+ years of experience designing or supporting software deployment and update infrastructure
- 3+ years of experience supporting Linux-based systems deployed across multiple customer sites or field environments
- 3+ years of experience working with Ubuntu Linux
- 3+ years of experience troubleshooting Linux systems running on hardware-integrated products
- Experience with Linux boot processes, file systems, storage management, networking, and system services
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- 3+ years of experience with atomic update frameworks, A/B partitioning, rollback mechanisms, or OTA deployment solutions
- 2+ years of experience with technologies such as RAUC, Mender, SWUpdate, OSTree, or Ubuntu Core
- 2+ years of experience supporting embedded Linux platforms in production environments
- 2+ years of experience working with scientific instruments, medical devices, industrial automation systems, robotics, semiconductor equipment, or similar hardware products
- 1+ year of experience developing or supporting C#/.NET applications on Linux
