Bookkeeper | Client Services
Abacus! is an independent, full-service accounting and advisory firm specializing in accounting and consulting services for businesses and individuals. Join a rapidly growing organization with a strategic vision and dynamic plan.
We are seeking a Bookkeeper – Client Services to join our Accounting Services team during a period of growth and transition. This role blends hands-on bookkeeping with core accounting responsibilities while supporting multiple clients in a public accounting environment.
This is a hands-on, high-accountability role. The environment is fast-paced and evolving. The right candidate will be comfortable managing multiple priorities, adapting to change, and contributing to stabilizing and improving processes.
This position is intentionally designed as a growth role. While the initial focus is on execution and accuracy, team members who demonstrate ownership, reliability, and strong client service skills may progress into a Senior role with increased responsibility for managing work, reviewing others' output, and working more directly with clients.
This role offers meaningful responsibility and exposure, but it is not a low-pressure or purely routine position.
Manage accounting work for multiple clients in a dynamic environment
Opportunity to make an immediate impact by helping stabilize and improve workflows
Direct visibility to leadership and senior team members
Real-world public accounting experience without traditional audit or tax busy seasons
Clear expectations and accountability, with support from experienced professionals
Client Accounting & Bookkeeping
Perform day-to-day bookkeeping for assigned Client Accounting Services (CAS) clients
Record financial transactions and maintain accurate general ledgers
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable as applicable
Financial Reporting & Close Support
Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
Prepare standard financial statements and supporting schedules
Review financial data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies
Ensure timely and consistent delivery of client reports
Client Support & Communication
Serve as a day-to-day accounting contact for assigned clients
Respond to client questions regarding transactions and account balances
Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and internal team members
Escalate complex or unusual items to senior team members when appropriate
Quality, Compliance & Team Collaboration
Complete work in accordance with GAAP, firm policies, and internal best practices
Maintain organized documentation and support for all accounting activity
Contribute to process improvements and accounting workflow enhancements
Collaborate with CAS team members to deliver consistent, high-quality service
Career Growth Opportunity
This role supports the firm's Client Accounting Services practice and is designed as a development position.
Advancement is based on performance, consistency, and readiness — not tenure alone.
Staff Accountants who demonstrate strong technical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage client work independently may progress into a Senior role with expanded responsibility for:
Reviewing work prepared by others
Managing client relationships and expectations
Handling more complex accounting matters
