Job Summary: The Drum & Fife Musician brings music, energy, and historical charm to the park through live, mobile performances. This role is performed while walking through designated park areas, engaging guests with traditional drum and fife music in an interactive, immersive way. Musicians help create a lively atmosphere, enhance guest experiences, and contribute to memorable moments throughout Silver Dollar City.
Seasonal Position: 06/01/2026 – 08/02/2026
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Responsibilities- Perform as part of a drum and fife ensemble while walking through the park along assigned routes
- Play fife or drum accurately and consistently during extended walk-through performances
- Maintain musical timing, tempo, and ensemble cohesion while in motion
- Engage guests in a friendly, professional, and welcoming manner while performing
- Adapt performances to changing environments, guest flow, and park conditions
- Follow assigned performance schedules, routes, and break times
- Maintain performance energy, character, and professionalism throughout each set
- Care for and properly handle assigned instruments and performance attire
- Communicate effectively with fellow performers, entertainment leadership, and park staff
- Follow all safety guidelines and park policies while performing in guest-facing spaces
- Other duties as assigned to assist the entertainment and events division
- Ability to play a fife or drum with proficiency (marching or traditional style preferred)
- Strong sense of rhythm, timing, and musical awareness
- Ability to perform while walking and maintaining musical accuracy
- Comfortable performing in public, guest-interactive environments
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to remain aware of surroundings and adjust movement for guest safety
- Dependable, punctual, and able to follow direction
- Willingness to learn park-specific performance styles, routes, and expectations
- Prior musical performance experience preferred (marching band, drum corps, historical or traditional ensembles a plus)
- Ability to read music preferred but not required
- On-the-job training provided for performance routes, park standards, and guest engagement
- Ability to walk and perform for extended periods of time
- Ability to stand, march, and move continuously while playing an instrument
- Ability to carry and play an instrument for the duration of scheduled performances
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and humidity
- Ability to hear musical cues and maintain awareness of surroundings
- Ability to safely navigate crowds, uneven surfaces, and changing terrain
This role is performed in an outdoor, guest-facing environment within an active theme park and involves regular exposure to varying weather conditions and elevated noise levels. Performances take place in high-traffic public areas with guests of all ages, requiring awareness, professionalism, and adaptability at all times. The schedule may include weekends, holidays, and peak attendance days, and the work environment is fast-paced and energetic, requiring strong situational awareness and flexibility.
