Live out your passion. The Graduate Nurse Residency program is part of Cox Health’s culture of innovation, supporting new nurses. With over 3,000 nurses serving six hospitals, the program is a supplement to unit-based orientation and clinical classes during your first year. The Springfield residency is accredited with distinction from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the highest honor possible for such a program, and the only accredited residency of its kind in southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas.
The program is skill-focused, transitioning into professional development around the fourth month. It teaches tools for communication, self‑care, stress management, and offers advice on navigating professional development opportunities such as the clinical ladder and specialty certification assistance.
Program Progression Takes Part In Phases- Phase I – A unit‑specific orientation focusing on classroom theory, practicum, clinical time with a preceptor, simulation, and hands‑on skill learning. Mandatory and varies in length per unit.
