Under the direction of the RN or LPN, the PCA assists in individualized patient care to achieve the patient's highest level of wellness. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non‑clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient.

• Education:
  
  High school diploma, G.E.D., CNA/CPTC, enrollment in a healthcare career program, or current Mercy co‑worker.
• Licensure: (none required).
• Experience:
  
  None required.
• State of Practice: 175‑hour training program to meet Department of Health and Senior Services requirements; must be completed within 90 days of hire.
• Certifications:
  
  BLS required within one month of hire; completion of PCA competencies within 3 months of hire.
• Preferred
  
  Certifications:
  
  Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
• Physical Requirements:
  
  Push, pull, or lift 50 pounds; prolonged standing and walking; ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat.
