The Emergency Department (ED) Nurse provides professional nursing care during the initial phase of acute illness or trauma for patients of all ages. The ED nurse triages and determines priority of care based on physical, psychological, social needs and factors influencing patient flow. The ED nurse works quickly to assess each patient’s needs, stabilizes the patient, initiates treatment, discharges when appropriate or arranges longer hospital stay.

- Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN approved program.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- Preferred: Prior nursing experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Demonstrated effective leadership abilities.
- Strong time‑management skills.
- Strong critical thinking/problem‑solving skills.
- Flexibility and ability to work in a multi‑tasking environment.
- RN license active in the state of Missouri.
- BLS obtained within 90 days of hire.
- ACLS obtained within 1 year of hire.
- PALS obtained within 1 year of hire.
- ENPC obtained within 12 months of hire (primary RN for emergent pediatric care).
- TNCC obtained within 12 months of hire (primary RN in trauma care).
- NRP Certification within 1 year of hire and renew every two years.
