The starting pay range for this position per hour is $19.75 - $21.75. The full pay range for this position per hour is $19.75 - $33.60, based on factors such as labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.

The Assets Protection (AP) team keeps guests, team members, and the brand secure, mitigating theft, fraud, and shortage risks to ensure product availability. AP leaders build relationships internally and externally, including with store leaders and public safety officials, to maintain a safe and secure environment.
Responsibilities- Lead a security culture, including crisis response, crowd management, and a strong safety environment.
- Implement daily and weekly AP workload priorities to support business objectives.
- Respond to external and internal theft incidents and prevent future theft.
- Develop strategic resolutions for external theft and fraud, apprehending individuals per Target policy.
- Partner, educate, and support store business leaders on operational shortage priorities.
- Lead a team of hourly members, including interviewing, developing, evaluating, and retaining talent.
- Consistently deliver guest experience commitments and ensure every team member understands and meets them.
- Review area guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities and drive results.
- Support total store sales and increase profitability by ensuring products are in stock and available.
- Engage guests at the front of the store and on the sales floor.
- Participate in store response and emergency crisis situations; create security plans for in‑store events.
- Coach and lead team members to elevate their skills and expertise.
- Anticipate staffing needs and support talent planning around a culture of accountability.
- Identify theft and shortage trends and support tactics to reduce them.
- Work a schedule aligned to guest and business needs, including early morning, overnight, evening, and weekend shifts.
- Own prevention, identification, and resolution of external theft incidents, including apprehensions.
- Investigate and resolve internal investigations as directed by AP leaders.
- Educate store leadership on merchandise protection best practices and audit execution.
- Order merchandise protection devices to meet store standards.
- Manage the allocated budget for merchandise protection and adhere to guidance.
- Communicate AP priorities to the team, peers, and leadership.
- Maintain relationships inside and outside Target, including district and store leaders and law enforcement.
- Collaborate with retail partners to analyze industry trends and enhance security.
- Evaluate and recommend candidates for open positions; support onboarding and learning.
- Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct and compliance.
- Serve as first responder for in‑store safety incidents.
- Model execution of physical security processes to enhance the in‑store security culture.
- Support merchandise protection strategies across the total store.
- Address store needs such as emergency and regulatory visits.
- Perform all other duties as directed by business needs.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Meet any state or local licensure or other legal requirements related to the position.
- Previous retail and/or loss prevention experience preferred.
- Ability to lead and hold others accountable.
- Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
