Marine Mechanic

The Marine Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing the marina's fleet of boats, personal watercraft, and marine equipment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring rental equipment reliability, guest safety, and efficient marina operations.

The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically skilled, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced marina environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain boats, pontoons, tritoons, personal watercraft, outboard motors, trailers, and marina equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance including oil changes, tune-ups, impeller replacements, battery testing, winterization, and fluid checks.
  • Conduct routine inspections of rental fleet equipment to ensure safety, reliability, and operational readiness.
  • Respond quickly to mechanical issues affecting guest rentals and marina operations.
  • Maintain service logs, repair documentation, maintenance schedules, and parts inventory records.
  • Coordinate ordering of parts, supplies, and repair materials with marina management and vendors.
  • Assist with launching, retrieving, fueling, and staging boats as operational needs require.
  • Ensure all tools, maintenance areas, and mechanical spaces remain clean, organized, and safe.
  • Support emergency repairs and on-water service calls when necessary.
  • Follow all marina safety procedures, environmental guidelines, and company operational standards.
  • Assist marina operations team during peak periods and special events as needed.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of marine mechanic, small engine, powersports, or related mechanical experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of outboard engines, marine electrical systems, fuel systems, and preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Experience with Yamaha, Mercury, Suzuki, or similar marine equipment preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Valid driver's license required; boating experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and peak summer schedules.
