Reports to:
Director of Transportation
- Be at least twenty-one years of age
- Obtain a Class B or higher Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Passenger Endorsement "P"
- School Bus Endorsement "S"
- No air brake restriction "L"
- Maintain good physical and mental health, free from communicable disease and have normal use of both arms, hands, legs, and feet
- Vision shall be at least 20/20 in one eye with 20/40 vision in the other eye, or 20/30 vision in both eyes, with correction if necessary. A driver shall be able to distinguish the colors red, green, and yellow.
- Hearing shall be adequate to hear ordinary conversation
- Annual physical examination and certification by a medical examiner
- CDL training is available upon intent to hire
- Report to work neat, clean and on time
- Abstain from the use of tobacco in the bus
- Refrain from driving under the influence of intoxicants, narcotics, or drugs
- Clearance on background check satisfactory to Senior Administration
- Pre-employment drug screening required by state law for all CDL holders
- Enrolled in a random drug and alcohol screening program
Bus Driver must possess positive character traits that are student-centered and ability to interact and communicate effectively with others.
Essential Functions- Transport students in a safe and efficient manner
- Operate school vehicles in a proper and prudent manner in accordance with state rules, regulations, Missouri Motor Vehicle Laws, Branson R-4 rules, regulations and directives from the Director of Transportation, including "Driver Operation Procedures" found in the procedure section of the Board Policy Manual
- Make daily routine checks of maintenance and emergency items such as brakes, steering components, lights, signaling devices, emergency door, tires and safety equipment, etc.
- Report maintenance problems as soon as detected
- Turn in reports on time, filled out completely with driver's name attached
- Maintain clean and unobstructed interior and exterior conditions on bus at all times
- Maintain order and discipline while transporting students, handle minor disciplinary problems, and report infractions requiring intervention of the Director
- Be courteous to riders and parents
- Be rested and free from fatigue
- Be on time at scheduled stops
- Attend at least one driver's training program per year
- Report any school bus accident as soon as possible and remain with the bus during investigation
The individual must sit for long periods, occasionally walk and stand, frequently bend and twist torso and neck, frequently use repetitive arm, wrist, and hand movements. Occasionally lift up to 75 pounds. Use close, distance and peripheral vision as well as depth perception.
AttendanceConsistent and regular attendance is an essential duty of this position.
Conditions And EnvironmentWork often in temperatures below 32°F and above 100°F; occasionally work in rain, sleet and ice; drive on slippery conditions; often in high noise level including engine noise and many children speaking; a raised voice may be necessary.
Evaluation Of Performance And EmploymentEvaluation of performance and consideration for employment will be under the jurisdiction of the Director of Transportation in consultation with the Executive Director of Operations.
