This role supports the installation, alignment, and maintenance of mechanical equipment at a large food processing and distribution facility in Brantford, Ontario. You will assemble and level conveyor systems and related machinery in an industrial construction environment, ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with food-grade standards.
ResponsibilitiesAssemble, install, and level conveyor systems and associated mechanical equipment in an industrial facility.
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on industrial equipment, including conveyors, packaging lines, and material handling systems.
Install, align, and repair mechanical components such as gearboxes, motors, bearings, pumps, and drive systems.
Troubleshoot mechanical issues on automated production and processing lines to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
Support operation and reliability of packaging equipment, including tray packing, vacuum sealing, and labeling systems.
Maintain and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-operated systems to ensure consistent and safe operation.
Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment and production lines, including mechanical setup and verification.
Ensure proper function of refrigeration and cold storage systems in support of food processing operations.
Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and maintain food-grade sanitation standards in all work activities.
Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and technical documentation to complete installations and repairs accurately.
Use hand tools and measuring equipment to assemble, adjust, and verify mechanical components.
Collaborate with other trades and site personnel to coordinate work and meet project timelines.
Maintain personal tools and equipment in good working order and ensure safe use of all tools and PPE.
Adhere to all site safety policies and procedures, including fall protection and safe work practices.
Minimum 2+ years of maintenance in an industrial or construction environment.
Hands‑on experience with conveyor and machine installation, including assembly, alignment, and levelling.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and industrial installation drawings.
Strong mechanical aptitude and experience working with mechanical systems and components.
Proficiency using common hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, levels, and measuring tapes.
Experience performing mechanical troubleshooting on automated production and processing lines.
Ability to work safely in an industrial setting, following LOTO procedures and site safety requirements.
Capability to support packaging equipment operations, including tray packing, vacuum sealing, and labeling systems.
Experience working in industrial and construction environments with assembly responsibilities.
This position is based at a food processing and distribution facility in Brantford, Ontario, with a first-shift schedule typically running from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, and often extended to approximately 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Saturday, resulting in work weeks that can reach around 60 hours.
You will work around conveyors, packaging lines, material handling systems, refrigeration equipment, and other industrial machinery. The role requires consistent use of personal protective equipment, including a hard hat, 6-inch or 8-inch steel‑toe boots, safety vest, and harness with lanyard when working k is hands‑on, physically active, and performed in a busy production and construction setting where adherence to safety procedures, food‑grade sanitation standards, and tool readiness is essential.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr.
