Position Location:

Brattleboro, Vermont Compensation: $19.50 per hour (equivalent to an annual salary range of approximately $285,000 $ 320,000, based on experience and qualifications)

Position Overview:

Brattleboro Memorial Hospital Medical Group is actively seeking a dedicated, board-certified or board-eligible General Surgeon to join our collaborative surgical team. This full-time, permanent position offers an excellent opportunity to provide comprehensive surgical care within a supportive community hospital setting in Brattleboro, Vermont.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver comprehensive surgical services across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings. Perform a broad range of common general surgical procedures including hernia repairs, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, small bowel obstruction management, colorectal surgeries, skin and soft tissue procedures, and endoscopies. Manage acute and chronic wounds through our multidisciplinary Wound Clinic. Provide expert diagnosis, treatment planning, and operative management for diverse surgical conditions. Exercise advanced operative techniques and clinical judgment to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Collaborate closely with anesthesiologists, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), Physician Assistants, perioperative staff, emergency department clinicians, hospitalists, and wound care teams. Educate patients and their families regarding surgical procedures, associated risks, benefits, and post-operative care. Review diagnostic test results, interpret abnormalities, and communicate findings effectively. Offer surgical input for palliative care, pain management, and end-of-life decision-making. Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives.

Engage in professional development activities to maintain current surgical knowledge. Comply with OSHA Category I standards, including blood borne pathogen precautions. Maintain adherence to hospital policies and best practices to ensure high-quality patient care. Qualifications &

Certifications:

Medical Degree (MD or DO) Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery Valid DEA registration Current CPR certification VMS certification requirements include CPR, DEA, and eligibility status via board certification Candidate Requirements:
