About the Position
Position Overview
A respected community hospital in Brattleboro is seeking a compassionate and skilled Oncology Physician (MD/DO) to join its multidisciplinary cancer care team. This is a part-time opportunity (~24 hours/week) focused on delivering personalized, patient-centered care in an outpatient clinic setting.
This role offers the opportunity to participate in clinical trials, collaborate across specialties, and make a meaningful impact in a close-knit rural community serving southeastern Vermont and nearby regions of New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and stage various cancers using clinical assessments, imaging, and laboratory testing
Develop individualized treatment plans including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and coordination of radiation therapy
Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
Manage treatment-related side effects and provide supportive care
Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosis
Provide emotional support and counseling throughout the cancer journey
Collaborate with surgeons, radiologists, oncology nurses, nurse practitioners, and navigators to ensure coordinated care
Participate in clinical trials, research initiatives, and quality improvement projects
Stay current with oncology guidelines and emerging therapies
Mentor clinical staff and contribute to departmental initiatives
Schedule & Practice Model
Part-time schedule (~24 hours per week)
Outpatient-focused oncology practice
Must reside within 1 hour of the hospital
Position must be primary employment (cannot be combined with another role)
Not open to locum or locum-to-perm candidates

Required Qualifications
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Oncology – Required
Active Vermont Medical License (must obtain prior to start) – Required
Clean malpractice history – Required
Completion of accredited U.S. or Canadian residency program – Required
Most recent NPDB Self-Query Report (within 30 days) – Required
