About the Position
Position Overview
Brattleboro Memorial Hospital , a 61-bed not-for-profit community hospital in Brattleboro , is seeking a full-time Hospitalist Physician (MD/DO) to join its collaborative, mission-driven medical staff. This opportunity offers the chance to practice broad-spectrum inpatient medicine while serving a rural population across Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts.
Clinical Responsibilities
Manage inpatient admissions, daily rounding, and discharges
Evaluate and treat acute and chronic medical conditions
Provide evidence-based, patient-centered care
Coordinate care plans and ensure smooth transitions of care
Order and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostic studies
Document all patient encounters thoroughly in the EMR
Respond to codes and rapid response situations
Provide ventilator management
Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and quality initiatives
Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses and follow-up care
No procedures required.
Strong specialty backup available including surgeons (for central lines), respiratory therapy, emergency medicine physicians, and CRNAs.
Additional Details
Must reside within 1 hour of the hospital
Not open to locum or locum-to-perm candidates
Position must be primary employment
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $300,000 – $350,000 annually
(Based on experience, education, board certification, and market factors)

Requirements
Qualifications
MD or DO from an accredited medical school – Required
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine – Required
Active Vermont Medical License – Required
DEA (prior to start) – Required
BLS & ACLS Certifications – Required
Ventilator management experience – Required
Experience running codes – Required
Clean Malpractice History – Required
Highly Preferred:
2–3 years of Hospitalist experience
Rural health experience
