Description:
The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing the health status of individuals and groups. The nurse establishes nursing diagnoses, identifying and planning goals to meet health care needs. Prescribing nursing interventions is part of the role. Implementing the plan of care and evaluating and documenting responses to interventions are essential duties. The Birthing Center is a level one low-risk birth unit utilizing single room maternity care.
Care is provided incorporating Orem's theory of self-care and the philosophy of family-centered care. Care is administered on inpatient or outpatient status. The patient population includes obstetrical patients (antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum), clean female surgical cases, newborn stabilization, normal newborn care, and pediatric patients during the perinatal period. Cesarean births are performed and recovered in the Birthing Center. Nursing personnel are provided for therapeutic procedures performed on other units when staffing permits.
Experience with C-Sections, epidurals, and venipuncture proficiency is preferred. Travel experience is highly preferred. AFM, NRP, and S.T.A.B.L.E certifications can be obtained during onboarding.
