The Registered Nurse (RN) reports to the Wound Care Center Clinical Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator and is responsible for delivering direct patient care as well as managing intake and discharge processes for Wound Care Center patients.
The RN may also act as a Case Manager for a specified group of patients, depending on the Center’s configuration.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities- Provide patient care to Wound Care Center patients and manage patient intake and discharge procedures in accordance with hospital and nursing standards.
- Assist in the vein clinic after completing Healogics Vein Clinic training.
- Serve as a Case Manager for assigned patients, which includes:
- Performing the initial nursing assessment
- Communicating findings with the assigned physician
- Assessing wound stage and measurements
- Documenting care plans
- Evaluating patient status relative to desired outcomes
- Identifying patient care situations that require intervention
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, provide patient or caregiver education, and advocate for patients in the delivery and coordination of care.
- Perform hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) related duties as assigned upon completion of Healogics hyperbaric training; may also become a hyperbaric safety director after required training.
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers, Wound Care Center providers, Program Director, and Medical Director regarding clinic and patient needs.
- Function as a Documentation Assistant (scribe) per Healogics policy.
- Execute other duties as required.
- Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current RN license in the state of practice, maintained throughout employment.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Medical Surgical, Home Health, or Wound Care Certification preferred.
- Wound care experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Competency in BLS (Basic Life Support).
- Strong organization, prioritization and time‑management skills.
- Basic knowledge of regulatory, accrediting requirements for healthcare organizations.
- Excellent interpersonal, listening, oral, and written communication skills, including presentation and translation of technical terms into lay language.
- Customer service and follow-up skills.
- Analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Teaching abilities.
- Capacity to work in a fast‑paced environment and handle multiple simultaneous tasks.
- Teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Calm under all circumstances.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Working knowledge of computerized nursing systems.
