Job Summary
Patrols hospital buildings, grounds, and parking lots to promote the security and safety of all patients, employees, visitors, and property. Responds to all codes. Manages traffic and parking of vehicles on grounds maintaining a safe and secure environment free of hazards and dangerous or illegal activities that could result in injury, damage or loss to persons or property. Receives direction and supervision from Security Supervisor and/or appropriate administrators.
Qualifications- High school graduate or equivalent.
- One (1) year of experience in related field or One (1) year of technical training preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a safe and clean driving record for the past three years.
Promotes a safe and secure environment for all clients, staff and visitors by monitoring the grounds and buildings. Locks and unlocks doors, turns lights on and off at scheduled times. Enforces parking regulations.
Responds to the Switchboard’s request for Shows of Support and will participate, as directed by clinical staff, and will document such occurrences in the daily log as well as communicating, verbally and in writing, as appropriate, with Switchboard, Supervisor and relief at change of shift.
Responds either directly or indirectly to any perceived threat to Retreat employees, clients or visitors. When confronted with a potentially dangerous situation notifies appropriate emergency responders and Facilities on Call Manager.
Patrols the grounds and hospital buildings to prevent fire. Checks fire sprinkler systems. Identifies safety hazards and unusual conditions, malfunctions of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
Responds to fire related incidents including drills and all alarms as well as emergency calls. Directs emergency vehicles by reporting to the proper entrances.
Searches patient property for contraband. Escorts patients to and from units.
Confronts suspicious/unknown persons in unauthorized areas for questioning, redirecting them or calling police for assistance.
Maintains a daily Security Log with clear, concise information without the need for clarification, also logging the name of the Switchboard operator at the beginning of each shift. Checks and responds to emails and memos at start of shift.
Assists facilities personnel as needed. Investigates incidents as needed.
