Salary Range: $19.44 To $30.27 Hourly
Job Summary: Patrols hospital buildings, grounds, and parking lots to promote the security and safety of all patients, employees, visitors, and property. Responds to all codes. Manages traffic and parking of vehicles on grounds maintaining a safe and secure environment free of hazards and dangerous or illegal activities that could result in injury, damage or loss to persons or property. Receives direction and supervision from Security Supervisor and/or appropriate administrators.
Qualifications- High school graduate or equivalent.
- One (1) year of experience in related field or One (1) year of technical training preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a safe and clean driving record for the past three years.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promote a safe and secure environment for all clients, staff and visitors by monitoring the grounds and buildings, locking and unlocking doors, turning lights on and off at scheduled times, and enforcing parking regulations.
- Respond to the Switchboard’s request for Shows of Support; participate as directed by clinical staff, document occurrences in the daily log, and communicate verbally and in writing with Switchboard, Supervisor and relief at change of shift.
- Respond to any perceived threat to Retreat employees, clients or visitors. Notify appropriate emergency responders and Facilities on Call Manager when confronted with potentially dangerous situations.
- Patrol grounds and hospital buildings to prevent fire, check fire sprinkler systems, identify safety hazards and unusual conditions, and detect malfunctions of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
- Respond to fire related incidents including drills and all alarms and emergency calls; direct emergency vehicles by reporting to the proper entrances.
- Search patient property for contraband; escort patients to and from units.
- Confront suspicious or unknown persons in authorized areas for questioning, redirecting them or calling police for assistance.
- Maintain a daily Security Log with clear, concise information without need for clarification, logging the name of the Switchboard operator at the beginning of each shift, and checking and responding to emails and memos at the start of shift.
