Location:

Overview

Allied Systems Company is seeking a detail-oriented Traffic Coordinator to manage domestic and international shipments, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and on-time delivery. This role plays a key part in supporting both inbound and outbound logistics operations for heavy equipment and parts, while maintaining cost-effective and compliant shipping practices.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate domestic and international shipments, including booking freight and working with carriers and freight forwarders
  • Prepare and review shipping documentation (freight bills, invoices, customs paperwork, tariff classifications)
  • Manage tariffs and compliance, including filing duty‑free exemptions when applicable
  • Communicate directly with customers to confirm shipment details, delivery requirements, and documentation
  • Verify shipment accuracy (quantities, addresses, freight rates) prior to dispatch
  • Ensure same-day outbound shipments when required (exceptions require approval)
  • Review and approve freight invoices, resolve discrepancies, and manage claims
  • Track shipments, including tracing delays/lost freight and securing proof of delivery
  • Request and evaluate freight quotes, transit times, and carrier performance
  • Negotiate freight rates and maintain strong carrier and forwarder relationships
  • Maintain organized records and provide clear communication for all logistics activities
  • Support teams with packaging optimization and shipment configuration
  • Stay current on transportation and customs regulations
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Logistics, Business, or related field
  • Up to 5 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of domestic & international shipping, customs, and tariffs
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel & Outlook)
  • Strong communication skills with both internal teams and external customers
