CMM OPERATOR

Position Overview

A Britt Aero CMM Operator is responsible for the inspection and verification of precision machined product through the use of a Coordinate-Measuring Machine (CMM). The CMM Operator will run existing CMM inspection programs to verify part dimensions, support inspection processes, and ensure parts meet engineering and customer requirements.

• Run existing CMM programs to inspect machined components.
• Review and validate new or revised CMM programs prior to release.
• Review CMM Reports; decipher and report quality abnormalities.
• Interpret drawings, specifications, and manufacturing plans to verify basic GD&T dimensions.
• Perform First Article, Final, and In-Process Inspections and maintain Inspection Reports and other quality documents as required.
• Aid in the identification, segregation, and documentation of non-conforming product, as necessary.
• Perform shop-floor inspections through the use of a portable measurement machine (FARO Arm or similar), as required.
• Assist the Collaborative Robot Inspection cell with part set-up and loading, as needed.
• Assist in the use of CMM’s to calibrate/verify internal Check Gages used to buy-off product.
• Assist in Surface Plate Lay-Out Inspections, as needed.
• Work with Quality, Process, and Tooling Engineers, as necessary, to ensure product compliance.

• Experience in inspection (1-3 Years) or CMM is preferred.
• Must demonstrate competency in reading detailed drawings with a strong understanding of GD&T.
• Must have the ability to use and read precision measuring instruments, such as but not limited to: micrometers, calipers, height gages, thread gages, indicators, etc.
• Must possess fundamental mechanical and mathematical knowledge.
• Exposure to CMM Software (PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar), is a plus.
• Must possess a strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
• Must be result oriented and able to work in both an individual and team-oriented environment.
