Position: Estimator 2

Compensation

$125,000 - $150,000 annually.

Job Summary

The Estimator 2 will review and analyze project plans and specifications for special requirements and conditions to produce a complete estimate for assigned projects. This will be done in close coordination with operations and senior estimating team members.

Main Responsibilities
  • Close out bids with support for senior team members
  • Level subcontractor quotes for bid selection
  • Prepare detailed accurate estimates
  • Determine method of construction and accurately estimate required labor, equipment, and materials
  • Perform detailed takeoff for earthwork and structures (per specialization, if applicable)
  • Review and incorporate historical data into unit and manhour figures
  • Set up budgets, code subcontracts, and help the admin team prepare purchase orders
  • Work with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate bid cost
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or construction technology or an equivalent combination
  • Minimum of 5 years previous experience in estimating cost control and/or engineering related experience
  • Clear driving record

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, JD Edwards, Heavy Bid/Heaving Job estimating software
  • Proven ability to maintain and develop clients
  • Strong tendency to take initiative
Physical Requirements
  • Use hands and fingers to type and carry reports when required
  • Stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands throughout the workday when needed
  • Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch when required
  • Sit for a long period of time, possibly more than 90% of the workday
  • See clearly or with assistance via necessary correction
