About the Role
Join BD, a global leader in medical technology, as a Product Development Technician in Brea, CA. In this hands-on role, you will contribute directly to innovative healthcare solutions by supporting engineering teams with technical tasks, data analysis, equipment qualification, and laboratory operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity to grow your skills in a collaborative, mission-driven environment, with a set schedule (Mon-Fri, 1:30-10:00 PM) and competitive pay.
Responsibilities
- Gather, maintain, format, and compile technical data including laboratory and material test results, engineering design changes, and documentation.
- Produce engineering documents, reports, and drawings such as flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics.
- Prepare detailed summaries and quantitative analysis to support project decisions.
- Support engineers with technical tasks, equipment scoping, and equipment qualification.
- Participate in routine lab functions including calibration, safety procedures, and equipment maintenance.
- Identify and communicate factors influencing project progression to supervisors or team leads.
- Assist with developing prototype processes and test setups.
- Execute test protocols, conduct hands-on testing, and accurately document results.
- Handle test samples and chemicals per safety and procedural guidelines.
Required Skills and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 4-6 years' experience in a laboratory, regulated environment, or as a technician.
- Proven ability to follow written procedures and work collaboratively with teams.
- Proficiency in using personal computers.
- Experience with technical documentation and data analysis.
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor of Science in a technical field.
- 1-2 years' laboratory or R&D experience.
- Ability to understand and execute designed test procedures.
- Effective communication within cross-functional teams.
- Ability to train lower-level technicians.
