Senior Staff Engineer

INTERNATIONAL CODE COUNCIL INC seeks a Senior Staff Engineer to advance building safety codes and technical standards. In this role, you will lead complex structural and building systems analysis, develop and interpret model codes, and provide expert technical guidance to internal teams, jurisdictions, and industry partners. You will author and review technical documents, support code development committees, and mentor engineering staff.

The position collaborates across disciplines to improve public safety, sustainability, and resilience, driving innovation in the built environment while upholding ICC's mission-driven, collaborative culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex structural and building systems engineering analysis in support of ICC codes and standards
• Develop, interpret, and maintain model building safety codes and technical standards
• Provide expert technical guidance to internal teams, jurisdictions, and industry partners
• Author, review, and edit technical documents, reports, and code change proposals
• Support and advise ICC code development committees and work groups
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on public safety, sustainability, and resilience initiatives
• Mentor and provide technical direction to engineering and technical staff
• Engage with stakeholders to address code-related inquiries and resolve technical issues
• Contribute to research and innovation for emerging building technologies and practices
• Represent ICC at industry meetings, conferences, and professional forums as needed
