About the RoleA Wholesale mortgage company is seeking an Operations Director to lead our loan operations team. This role oversees the end-to-end loan process—including processing, underwriting, and closing—for third-party broker submissions. The ideal candidate will drive operational efficiency, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead a high-performing team in a fast-paced wholesale environment.
Key Responsibilities- Team Leadership:
Hire, train, mentor, and manage processors, underwriters, and closers to ensure strong team performance. - Pipeline Management:
Oversee the loan pipeline to ensure timely processing and closing in accordance with established service level agreements (SLAs). - Operational Excellence:
Evaluate and improve workflows to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and turnaround times from submission through post-closing. - Broker Relations:
Partner with sales teams to deliver exceptional service and support to third-party broker partners. - Compliance & Risk:
Ensure all loans meet company policies, investor guidelines, and regulatory requirements (TRID, HMDA, RESPA, TILA, Fair Lending). - Quality Control:
Address findings from quality control and underwriting reviews and implement corrective actions.
- 5+ years of mortgage industry experience
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing operations teams
- Wholesale mortgage experience is required
- Strong understanding of the full loan lifecycle (processing, underwriting, closing)
- Knowledge of mortgage regulations (TRID, RESPA, TILA, HMDA, Fair Lending)
- Experience with a Loan Origination System (LOS) such as Encompass or similar
- Proven ability to manage pipelines, meet deadlines, and drive team performance
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work onsite in Brea, CA
- Experience in a high-volume wholesale environment
- Knowledge of multiple loan products (Conventional, FHA, VA, Jumbo, Non-QM)
- Track record of improving operational processes and efficiency
- Experience working closely with broker partners and sales teams
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
