Job Skills / Requirements

The Director, Employee Relations & People Experience serves as CSG’s subject matter expert for employee relations, workplace investigations, leadership coaching, and organizational culture. This role leads strategies that foster a positive, engaging, and legally compliant workplace while supporting continued organizational growth.

Partnering with executive leadership, People Operations, Regional People Business Partners, Operations, and Legal Counsel, this position provides strategic guidance on complex employee relations matters, investigations, leadership effectiveness, employee experience, and employment law compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead employee relations strategy across multiple operating regions.
  • Conduct and oversee complex investigations involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, ethics, policy violations, wage and hour concerns, and other sensitive matters.
  • Provide recommendations that balance legal compliance, business objectives, and employee experience.
  • Partner with leadership and Legal Counsel on high-risk ER matters.
  • Analyze ER trends and develop proactive strategies to reduce risk.
  • Advise and coach executives, managers, supervisors, and Regional People Business Partners on performance management, corrective action, documentation, conflict resolution, policy interpretation, and difficult employee conversations.
  • Support leaders through organizational change and complex workplace challenges.
  • Develop strategies that strengthen employee engagement, recognition, retention, leadership accountability, and workplace culture.
  • Analyze turnover, exit interviews, engagement results, and employee feedback to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Champion CSG’s Core Values and promote consistent leadership practices.
  • Develop and facilitate training on employee relations, coaching, workplace conduct, investigations, conflict resolution, communication, and performance management.
  • Partner with People leadership on succession planning, organizational development, and leadership capability.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Coordinate responses to the EEOC, California Civil Rights Department (CRD), Labor Commissioner, unemployment claims, and other employment-related agencies.
  • Partner with Legal Counsel to mitigate organizational risk and support employment-related matters.
  • Maintain confidential ER and investigation records and promote consistent application of company policies.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Employment Law, or related field, or equivalent education and professional experience.
  • 5–10 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5 years specializing in Employee Relations.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience managing or influencing HR teams, leaders, or cross-functional initiatives.
  • Extensive experience conducting complex workplace investigations.
  • Strong knowledge of California employment law and federal employment regulations.
