Base Salary: $99,501.57 - $ not including eligible additional compensation with bilingual pay, special assignment pay, and up to twelve-point five (12.5) percent for POST certificate.
To perform law enforcement and crime prevention work; to control traffic flow and enforce State and local traffic regulations; to perform investigative work; to participate in and provide support and assistance to special department crime prevention and enforcement programs; to perform a variety of technical law enforcement tasks.
Supervision Receieved and ExercisedPolice Officer
General supervision is provided by a Police Sergeant. Technical or functional supervision may be provided by other police personnel. Assignments may require direct or indirect supervision of sworn and non‑sworn personnel.
Minimum Qualifications- Completion of high school or its equivalent.
- Current certification of completion of a P.O.S.T. regular basic course from a State of California P.O.S.T. approved Police Academy.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License issued from the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
- No felony convictions, or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude.
In addition to the minimum qualifications:
- Must have current valid State of California P.O.S.T. Basic Certification or Basic Course Waiver.
- Successful completion of probation at a P.O.S.T. recognized agency.

Example of Duties- Make arrests as necessary; interview victims, complainants and witnesses; interrogate suspects; gather and preserve evidence; testify and present evidence in court.
- Contact and cooperate with other law enforcement agencies in matters relating to the apprehension of offenders and the investigation of offenses.
- Prepare reports of arrests made, activities performed, and unusual incidents observed.
- Stop drivers who are operating vehicles in violation of laws; warn drivers against unlawful practices; issue citations and make arrests as necessary.
- Direct traffic at fire, special events, and other emergency or congested situations.
- Maintain contact with citizens regarding potential law enforcement problems and preserve good relationships with the general public.
Prospective candidates must successfully complete a thorough background review. Upon a conditional offer of employment, prospective candidates must successfully complete a psychological and medical examination and provide proof of legal work status. All new employees will be fingerprinted as a part of the employment process and a criminal history check will be conducted with the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation.
