Position SummaryThe Strategic Sourcing Specialist II independently leads sourcing initiatives supports the end-to-end indirect procurement lifecycle for assigned spend categories and sourcing events. This position helps business units identify requirements, develop sourcing approaches, conduct competitive bidding, evaluate suppliers, support contract review, and coordinate award and supplier onboarding activities. This position handles more complex negotiations, supplier strategy and cross-functional initiatives. The role is expected to operate within Mercury procurement policies, governance standards, and approved workflows while helping improve value, service, compliance, and cycle time across indirect spend categories.
This position contributes to category discipline, process improvement, mentoring and strong business partnership. Mercury’s current procurement roadmap emphasizes standardized RFx processes, expanded Coupa-enabled workflows, supplier tiering, stronger supplier onboarding, and improved KPI reporting across categories such as IT, facilities, professional services, advertising, mobility, Claims and underwriting-related services.

State specific pay scales for this role are as follows:
$63,410 to $117,348 (NJ, NY, WA, HI, AK, MD, CT, RI, MA)
$57,646 to $106,680 (NV, OR, AZ, CO, WY, TX, ND, MN, MO, IL, WI, FL, GA, MI, OH, VA, PA, DE, VT, NH, ME)
$51,881 to $96,012 (UT, , MT, NM, SD, NE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV)

Typical hiring range is $81,341.00 to $99,417.00
The expected base salary for this position will vary depending on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills and location.
Responsibilities Essential Job Functions- Independently leads sourcing initiatives and supports sourcing activities for indirect procurement requirements, including intake support, market research, RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, bid administration, evaluation coordination, and recommendation development.
- Manages and assists internal stakeholders in defining business requirements, scope, service expectations, pricing structure, and supplier evaluation criteria for sourcing events.
- Coordinate supplier communications during competitive events and help maintain fair, organized, and well-documented sourcing files.
- Analyze supplier proposals for commercial completeness, pricing competitiveness, business fit, and alignment to stakeholder requirements.
- Handles complex negotiations, supplier strategy and coordinates across functions. Support negotiation of routine commercial terms, pricing schedules, statements of work, renewals, and amendments under the guidance of Procurement leadership or senior team members.
- Coordinate with Legal, Finance, Information Security, Risk, and business stakeholders to support contract review and required approvals.
- Support supplier onboarding and due diligence activities, including collection of required documentation and coordination of risk and compliance reviews.
- Track sourcing milestones, savings opportunities, supplier status, contract actions, and procurement activity metrics for reporting purposes.
- Help maintain category and supplier information, sourcing templates, bid records, and procurement documentation.
- Provide day-to-day support to internal customers on procurement processes, tools, and policy requirements, including Coupa-related workflow support as assigned.
- Contribute to supplier performance follow-up, issue resolution, and post-award coordination with stakeholders and suppliers.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, standardization, and better compliance within the indirect procurement lifecycle.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Procurement leadership.
- Regular attendance on a full-time schedule of at least 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement or related field required
