Position: Test Technician I

Overview

Emerald Technologies is seeking a Test Technician in Brea, CA. The position is paid hourly, with a salary range of $20.00 to $22.00. The role involves setting up and operating automated test equipment to evaluate printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) using detailed work instructions and established procedures. Responsibilities include developing test process documentation and supporting continuous improvement across the testing workflow.

The Technician also plays a key role in troubleshooting failed boards and restoring units to working order through component‑level analysis.

Responsibilities
  • Perform automated PCBA testing by setting up and running equipment such as Flying Probe, ICT, and FCT systems using work instructions and proprietary test programs.
  • Execute multi‑step test procedures to verify overall product functionality.
  • Evaluate pass/fail results and separate good units from defective ones.
  • Troubleshoot failed boards, diagnosing and resolving failures down to the component level.
  • Maintain accurate records by compiling, documenting, and storing test results per company requirements.
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance on test fixtures and tooling while keeping the work area clean and organized.
  • Support production and RMA testing on both production units and returned goods.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of electronic testing experience.
  • Effective written and verbal communication in English.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Basic knowledge of electronic test tools such as digital multimeters and power supplies.
  • Ability to determine pass/fail status of PCB assemblies based on test criteria.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including work instructions, manuals, and safety guidelines.

Schedule & Budgeted Hours

Shift

Hours:

Monday–Friday, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM

Paid Hours Per Day: 8 hours (includes one 30‑minute unpaid meal break)

Budgeted Weekly

Hours:

40 hours (5 shifts × 8 hours)

Overtime:
May be required based on production needs and will be compensated in accordance with California labor law.
