Superintendent - Recold Plant

With cooling towers, fans, and refrigeration units, companies rely on brands like Marley, Recold, and SGS to provide comfort and mission critical and industrial cooling solutions.

The Superintendent will be responsible for leading and developing a manufacturing Engineer and a unionized manufacturing team, overseeing daily operations and production processes for the facility in Brea, CA. The Superintendent will be responsible for hiring, training and motivating employees, driving continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring a safe and clean working environment, and prioritizing positive measures that favorably impact on-time delivery, quality control, inventory management and financial commitments.

Job Responsibilities

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Leadership:
    Provide leadership and guidance to manufacturing team, ensuring productivity, collaboration and a positive working environment
  • Environmental, Health & Safety:
    Promote and maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety guidelines, conducting regular inspections, and addressing potential issues immediately
  • Production Execution:
    Collaborate with production planning and logistics to prioritize production schedules, monitor progress, and ensure on-time delivery of orders that meet customer expectations
  • Continuous Improvement and Documentation:
    Use ERP system and other technology to prepare reports for planning, performance monitoring, issue identification, and improvement
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

  • At least 5 years of supervisory/ management/ leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience attracting, retaining, motivating and developing high performing, diverse teams
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment that creates highly engineered, customized products
  • Experience in unionized manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, including assembly, welding, machining and quality control
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and the ability to drive a culture of safety, with knowledge of environmental, health and safety regulations
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies and lean manufacturing principles
  • Proficiency using manufacturing software and systems for inventory management and production planning, including working in ERP related system
  • Knowledge of HVAC industry
  • Proven ability to build effective partnerships with other leaders
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate and collaborate across organizational levels (production employees, engineering, sales, leadership)
  • Proven ability to motivate others, supervise, and train hourly manufacturing employees in a production environment
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office software
  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience in related field
  • Bachelor's degree in technical field such as Engineering, Industrial/ Manufacturing preferred

As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. As required by law in this state, the estimated salary range for this position is $117,800 - $180,600 and represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect.

We tailor our offers within the range based on organizational needs, internal equity, market data, geographic zone, and the selected candidate's experience, education, industry knowledge, location, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the selection process. At SPX, it is not common for individuals to be hired at the higher end of the range, and compensation decisions depend on a variety of factors.

This position is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus, subject to the rules governing the plan. SPX offers a variety of benefits, including health benefits, 401K retirement with a company match, and paid time off.
