Director of Business Development – Lighting & Home Products

A new lighting technology. A patented product line. A chance to help build the U.S. market.

Would you like to work directly with the CEO of an established consumer products company that has spent decades in the home décor space with new patented technology

We're looking for someone who understands the U.S. lighting market and home decor, knows how to create opportunities from scratch, and can help determine where this new technology belongs and how to get it there.

Your Bright Future:

  • Compensation: $90,000–$125,000 base DOE
  • Additional bonus/commission opportunity tied to sales goals
  • Orange County, CA based company
  • High-visibility role reporting directly to the CEO

Where You'll Shine:

As Director of Business Development, you'll take the lead in developing the U.S. market for a new patented lighting technology.

You'll be responsible for identifying where the biggest opportunities are, getting in front of the right decision-makers, developing relationships, and converting those opportunities into long-term business.

  • Develop and execute the U.S. business development strategy for new lighting product lines
  • Build a pipeline from the ground up through proactive outreach, networking, referrals, industry relationships, and market activity
  • Identify and pursue opportunities across lighting, home décor, hospitality, design, distribution, wholesale, and other relevant commercial channels
  • Develop relationships with lighting distributors, showrooms, designers, specifiers, hospitality groups, retailers, builders, and other strategic partners
  • Introduce new patented lighting products and clearly communicate their value, differentiation, and market potential
  • Identify potential strategic partnerships and creative routes to market beyond traditional sales channels
  • Own opportunities from initial introduction through presentation, negotiation, close, and ongoing relationship development
  • Develop proposals, sales programs, pricing recommendations, and presentations based on customer and market needs
  • Establish sales goals, pipeline expectations, forecasts, and business development priorities
  • Bring real-time market feedback to leadership and the product team to help guide positioning, product development, pricing, and future opportunities
  • Represent the company at lighting industry trade shows, conferences, customer meetings, and other market events
  • Work directly with the CEO, VP of Operations, and Product Innovation/Market Strategy leadership to successfully commercialize new products
Job Requirements

What You Bring to the Light:

  • 5+ years of successful B2B sales or business development experience
  • Direct lighting industry sales experience required
  • Strong knowledge of the U.S. lighting market and how lighting products are sold, specified, distributed, and brought to market
  • Proven ability to generate new business rather than relying solely on existing accounts or inbound opportunities
  • Experience launching or introducing new lighting products into the marketplace
  • Established relationships within the lighting industry strongly preferred
  • Experience developing business with distributors, showrooms, designers, specifiers, hospitality groups, retailers, builders, or other relevant channels
  • Strong understanding of sales pipelines, forecasting, pricing, negotiation, and revenue goals
  • Comfortable working independently and building a new business channel without an established playbook
  • Strong presentation and relationship-building skills with the ability to communicate directly with senior decision-makers
