ASSOCIATE DATA SYSTEMS ANALYST
QUALIFICATIONS:
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college. Preference will be given to candidates with a bachelor's degree in education or computer science/information technology. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in training, supporting various software applications and/or proficiency with Excel and/or other data analysis tools. Additional consideration will be given to applicants with knowledge and experience with SMPSB's current student information system and/or business applications.

SUPERVISES:
Contractors and any other employees who may be assigned from time to time
- Develop expertise in using the student information system, business application system and other data systems in use within the school system.
- Provide and retrieve Student Information (SIS reports), Human Resources, Accounting, and Payroll reports to the appropriate authorities, including, but not limited to, the Louisiana State Department of Education, auditors, and parents.
- Facilitates and assists with research, comparisons and data analysis using all available and applicable data systems and data tools across the district to ensure the effectiveness and to help facilitate continued and future implementations.
- Ensures state reporting, district, federal, and any other deadlines/requirements; along with, verifies and validates reported data as truthful and accurate.
- Extracts data from multiple data systems and prepares reports in a logical format as requested by the supervisor.
- Organizes and correlates information gathered, and diagrams general conceptual designs.
- Facilitates public records requests that fall within the scope of the systems managed.
- Works with Supervisor and other individual department users to determine their information processing needs and to respond to these needs as directed.
- Fulfill the role of "Help Desk" support for data systems used within the school system, including, but not limited to, Student Information System, Human Resources, Accounting, and Payroll. Users include, but are not limited to, school level employees, district level employees, and parents.
- Troubleshoot software and data issues for all data systems.
- Conduct training sessions on the Student Information System, Business Systems and any other district systems which fall in the realm of duties whenever necessary.
- Prepares instructional training and usage material for users of the district's data system.
- Assess the needs of the end users and facilitate training as necessary.
- Develop and publish operating procedures and documentation based around Student Information System usage, Business Systems and other data systems when necessary.
- Maintains written documentation for all applications implemented.
- Abides by all PII and data privacy laws, policies and regulations.
- Assists Supervisor of Computer Services with district data governance tasks.
- Assists Supervisor of Computer Services with facilitating data sharing requirements and setups between district systems.
- Participates in the implementation, including data conversions, of a new system or procedure by ensuring conformity between the conceptual plan and execution.
- Reviews, analyzes, and improves existing systems, procedures, and methods; determines and resolves causes of system problems.
- Assist the Supervisor of Computer Services and Chief Financial Officer in establishing and implementing projects.
- Confere with management and staff to discuss project requests, to determine project feasibility, and to establish project priorities.
- Provides project design specifications using flow charts, written reports, and oral presentations.
- Works with software vendors to maintain good relations and to communicate the needs of the district.
- Maintains good public relations between the community, parents and the school system.
- Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by appropriate authorities.
- Three years of experience in computer programming, data systems analysis and design, or any combination of experience and training that assists with conversion, data validation, and accuracy of reporting data.
- Considerable knowledge of computer capabilities, processes and proficiency with Excel and/or other data analysis tools.
- Ability to analyze technical subject matter needs, controls, and reporting requirements.
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, flowcharts and oral presentations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
