Executive Administrative Manager

Summit County Government is seeking a well-qualified Executive Administrative Manager to perform and oversee a variety of daily analytical, technical, and administrative duties in support of the offices of the Board of County Commissioners, County Manager, and County Attorney. This role includes oversight and leadership of a team of administrative assistants.

We need a superstar in organization, leadership, and task management. A leader who can navigate a dynamic office filled with a diverse set of talented, smart, and engaging directors and managers who will not just count on you but also see you as a critical member of the team. The pace changes by the hour, often fast and demanding, other times quiet and casual.

On any day, it's an environment that requires your dedicated team of admins to pivot quickly between different personalities with different talents in an office where everyone needs help with something. The work you'll do each day is more than your typical admin tasks. It is a public service leadership position that can be as complex as performing historical research for the County Attorney, organizing the next Board of County Commissioners hearing, helping a member of the public navigate a large governmental entity, or simply helping the County Manager get to a meeting on time.

It's also a launching pad for learning the inner workings of public administration and a great way to further a career. Candidates must demonstrate:

  • Strong technical and administrative expertise along with exceptional interpersonal skills;
  • an ability to manage tight deadlines—both your own and those of the team and your bosses;
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong presentation skills;
  • the ability to maintain composure and professionalism in demanding situations;
  • expertise in software tools like Office 365 (Trello/kanban project management experience preferred);
  • strong organizational and scheduling skills;
  • the ability to balance, prioritize, multi-task, and help others in the office do the same;
  • they are self-directed, flexible, detail oriented;
  • an ability to manage sensitive information and data in a confidential manner;
  • an ability to provide high-level customer service to both internal and external stakeholders and members of the public;
  • critical thinking skills, including developing solutions to improve existing programs that meet the ever-changing needs of the organization;
  • strong technology skills, including an understanding of the tools that make our operations more efficient; and
  • the ability to change focus between the simple and the complex.

This position is exempt and is an in-office position working Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm with additional hours as required.

Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field and a minimum of five years of high-level office administration and supervisory experience; OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
