Overview
The Town of Breckenridge Recreation Department is seeking dedicated, customer service oriented individuals for the position of Youth Instructor (Summer Camp Counselor) - Summer Seasonal
. Youth Instructors interface with guests to meet or exceed guest needs regarding facility, program or service needs. Responsibilities include providing information, implementing or carrying out pre-planned programs or activities, assisting with program planning, cash handling, enforcing policies, and representing the department in a quality, service-oriented manner.
The position primarily serves children/youth at the Breckenridge Recreation Center, ages 2 months – 12 years. Duties include supervising children, maintaining positive interactions, ensuring active engagement, planning and leading camper activities, and resolving disciplinary issues as needed.
Youth Instructors interact with campers and parents, are accountable for campers at all times, and operate within State Licensing requirements for the BMC Summer Camp program. Additional duties include check-in/check-out procedures, excellent customer service, responding to phone and in-person inquiries, supervising children in the Recreation Center, and maintaining a fun and safe environment. This position may also involve leading games and activities, providing snacks, assisting children in the restroom or diaper changing, cleaning and sanitizing the work area, and other duties as assigned.
This Summer Seasonal position is a Full-Time, 40 hours per week position.

Minimum Qualifications- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High School diploma or equivalent required, or must be currently enrolled in High School.
- Must have previous experience working with children.
- Basic CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications are required within 60 days of hire.
- Preventing Disease Transmission (PDT) required within 60 days of hire.
- A valid Colorado driver's license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record is required.
- Experience working with youth ages two months to twelve years is highly qualified.
- One or more years of customer service experience involving youth participants and communications with parents/guardians preferred.
- College degree in early childhood education, elementary education, special education, family and child development, child psychology or a related human services field preferred.
- Previous customer service experience preferred.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
$20.50 - $21.75 per hour

Sensitivity Status:
Because this position may involve direct contact with children, a clear criminal history is required.
Primary shifts are Mondays – Fridays, 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., up to 40 hours per week. This position is Open Until Filled; review of applications will begin immediately and continue until suitable candidates are selected.
