SUMMARY OF
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for supporting regular education and special education teachers by providing quality guidance and assistance to special education students in the classroom.
- Assist students in the classroom by taking notes, scribing and reading information out loud.
- Assist students with seat work by reinforcing instruction, clarifying subject matter, etc.
- Modify tests and assignments as needed.
- Prepare study guides for quizzes and tests as needed.
- Acquire a working knowledge of core academic subjects.
- Serve as a liaison between students, administrators, regular education teachers, special education teachers.
- Provide input on students' progress throughout the year.
- Attend IBP meetings and/or provide feedback when requested.
- Supervise and facilitate students' learning, organization skills and completion of assignments in learning labs.
- Develop a working knowledge of students' individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Perform duties include taking notes, scribing and reading information out loud; assisting students with seat work; modifying tests and assignments; serving as a liaison; providing input on students' progress.
- Demonstrates the commitment to build and maintain a safe, fair and respectful working and learning environment that honors the cultural diversity of students and staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including clerical duties.

- Associate's degree or two-year college certificate required.
- Bachelor's degree or teacher license preferred.
- Experience working with children with special needs preferred.
- First Aid Class/CPR & AED Certification Required (or obtain within 6 months of hire).
- Substitute Authorization Preferred.
- Effective time management due to time clock.
