About The Family & Intercultural Resource Center (FIRC)

About The Role

The Executive Director’s primary responsibility is to maintain FIRC as a strong, sustainable, and well-regarded resource to the Summit County community. Specifically, the Executive Directoris responsible for:

Ensuring that FIRC makes consistent progress toward achieving the organization’s strategic goals and overall mission, while upholding its core values,

Fundraising with a focus on major gifts from individual and institutional donors,

Leading advocacy efforts, building community partnerships, andfacilitatingFIRC’srole as a neutral convener for the Summit County community,

Managing the organization's operations, finances, and staff

The Executive Director leads all FIRC functions (Finance, Development, Operations, and Programs), managing an annual budget of $6-$7 million and a staff of 30-32.Thehead of each function reports directly to the Executive Director. This position reports to the FIRC Board of Directors, which conducts the Executive Director's annual performance review.

This full-time position is based at FIRC's new building in Breckenridge, CO. The role requires weekday work and a steady in-office presence,generally Monday through Thursday, balanced with regular travel across the county for community meetings, site visits, and evening or weekend commitments as needed. In-person leadership in the community is just as vital to this role as is its visibility throughout Summit County.

Core Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & Community Advocacy

Lead the implementation and ongoing evolution of FIRC's strategic plan in response to the community's shifting needs.

Serve as the primary champion for key community issues, including food equity and housing stabilization, healthcare navigation, parenting support, and mental health resources.

Facilitate FIRC's role as a neutral, trusted convener in Summit County, building coalitions with regional nonprofits, local officials, and food and health networks to coordinate services and expand shared funding opportunities.

2. Diversified Fund Development & External Relations

Partner with the Board and the Philanthropy and Communications Director to design and execute a comprehensive revenue strategy to support the $6-$7 million operating budget.

Personally lead the engagement, cultivation, and direct solicitation of major individual donors, corporate partners, and institutional foundations.

Act as the primary ambassador for FIRC, effectively communicating its impacttothe media, public officials, philanthropic networks, and community stakeholders.

Build andmaintainrelationships with local, state, and federal government representatives.

Represent FIRC on relevant external boards, coalitions, or advisory groups that raise the organization's profile and strengthen community ties.

3. Fiscal Stewardship & Operational Oversight

Partner with Finance leadership tomaintainrigorous fiscal controls, ensure audit readiness, and implement forward-looking financial strategies to protect organizational sustainability.

Provide high-level oversight of FIRC’s social programs, foodbank, and thrift store operations, maximizing both community impact and earned revenue.
