The Town of Breckenridge Open Space and Trails Division is seeking dedicated and customer service-oriented individuals for the position of Open Space & Trails Technician - Summer Seasonal
. This role works as part of a multi-person crew to construct, maintain, and repair natural surface trails and related facilities on the Town of Breckenridge's 5,100 acres of open space. The position also coordinates volunteer efforts and performs other related duties as assigned. The Open Space & Trails Technician performs a variety of general construction and maintenance duties, including monitoring and inventorying natural resources and public uses on open space properties;
installing and maintaining signs, fences, and boundary markers; overseeing volunteers on restoration and trail improvement projects; inspecting and maintaining natural surface trails and associated features; and maintaining tools and equipment.
The Summer Seasonal position is a Full-Time, 40 hours per week position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Must have the ability to perform a wide range of physical and manual tasks in an outdoor environment under a variety of weather conditions.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- A valid Colorado Driver's License is required within 30 days of hire.
- S-212 Chainsaw Operation Certification preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- An Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in Natural Resource Management or a related field preferred.
- One to two years of open space and trails related work experience, or a commensurate amount of related construction experience preferred.
- Experience operating light or heavy equipment and/or carpentry skills desired.
- Demonstrated experience working with volunteers desired, including recruiting, training, directing, organizing, and motivating trail volunteers.
Typical Hiring Pay Range: $22.00 - $24.65 per hour.
WORK SCHEDULE:Primary shifts for this position are generally four (4) 10‑hour days, typically Monday‑Friday, although some weekend shifts may be required. Individuals in this position must be flexible in terms of availability and may on occasion be required to work other shifts as needed, including early morning, late nights, weekends and holidays. All interested applicants must be available to work through the Summer Seasonal period established by the Open Space & Trails Division, which generally extends through mid‑October.
All work schedules, hours and dates of work are at the discretion of the Town and may be altered at any time.
