Position: Bartender (PT)

As a Bartender, you’re responsible for servicing guests, preparing beverages, and a variety of food options for guests. Responsible for maintenance of bar and kitchen area.

Essential Functions
  • Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for bars and restaurants, in accordance with service standards.
  • Will prepare and serve a variety of food options as requested by guests.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the dining area.
  • Anticipate Guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, making recommendations from guests’ preferences.
  • Take guests’ food and beverage orders, utilizing suggestive selling techniques.
  • Complete opening duties as assigned, including check quality and quantity of all bar stock and supplies using checklist.
  • Requisition all necessary supplies and transport from storeroom to bar.
  • Set bar according to service standards.
  • Set up all condiments (garnishes, juices, etc.) and beverages according to standards.
  • Prepare all fresh fruit garnishes according to service standards.
  • Ensure a sufficient supply of all flatware, glassware, and chinaware for service.
  • Ensure cleanliness and condition of assigned station and service areas.
  • Set upside stations with supplies and equipment.
  • Record orders of guests into the point-of-sale system and receive payment following service procedures.
  • Adhere to payment, cash handling and credit policies.
  • Open wine/champagne bottles and serve in accordance with service standards.
  • Retrieve food orders from kitchen.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned station and service areas.
  • Guide the activities of the bar back to ensure optimum service to Guests.
  • Remove soiled wares from bar. Clean and wipe down bar immediately after Guest departs.
  • Collect and report tips at the end of the assigned shift.
  • Complete closing duties and reports as assigned and leave duty after reporting to supervisor or Manager on Duty.
  • Must be TIPS and Food Safety certified as required.
  • Follow 4 Keys service standards, standard operation procedures, and safety standards.
  • Follow all appropriate policies and procedures while constantly striving to improve all standards of operations.
  • Follow safety and security procedures.
  • Work cohesively with co-workers and all departments as part of a team.
  • Adhere to attendance and reliability standards.
  • Follow all additional duties as assigned by management.
Skills and Abilities
  • Understand the mission, vision, and goals of the hotel.
  • Must be able to prioritize and work efficiently with limited supervision.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task efficiently.
  • Must be able to speak and understand and communicate the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Must possess excellent communication, follow-up, and organizational skills.
  • Must have the ability to push, pull bend, squat and lift on a regular basis.
  • Safety requirements of PPE as needed for duty assigned and with use of required tools and equipment.
  • Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritize, organize and follow-up.
  • Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment.
  • Follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest’s service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
  • Knowledgeable and ensure compliance of all state liquor regulations.
  • Knowledgeable of beverages, recipes and correct glassware and garnishes.
Job Qualifications/Requirements

Education:

High School Diploma or GED equivalence required

Experience:

Minimum 1 year experience as a barback or bartender in a hotel or restaurant.

Additional:
Must be at least 21 years of age. Will be required to work flexible scheduled shifts based on business needs.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds frequently to assist guests
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to hear, understand and communicate orally and in writing to communicate with staff, vendors, and guests a normal in-person and phone conversation
  • Ability to bend and twist, push, and pull, stoop, and kneel
  • Ascend and descend a ladder
