The Town of Breckenridge Recreation Department is seeking customer service–oriented individuals for the role of Sports Instructor - Summer Seasonal
. This position supports the design, setup, and delivery of recreational programs and events, with a primary focus on providing youth sports instruction and assisting with summer events. Sports Instructors lead group lessons for youth and preschool programs—including baseball/softball, soccer, basketball, football, lacrosse, tumbling, and field games—at the Breckenridge Recreation Center. Responsibilities include facility and equipment setup, instruction and coaching, enforcing policies, and ensuring a safe, positive environment with an emphasis on risk management and participant engagement.

MINIMUM & DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • One (1) year of work-related customer service experience in a recreation setting preferred.
  • One (1) or more years of work-related experience with youth preferred.
  • One (1) or more years of work-related experience in sports instruction, related to teaching age specific sport techniques and skills preferred (beginners to advanced).
  • One (1) or more years of work-related customer service experience working with youth participants and communicating with parents/guardians preferred.
  • One (1) or more years of work-related experience in other sports instruction, such as baseball/softball, t‑ball, football, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, tumbling/gymnastics, etc., preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sport and age-specific techniques and skills via work history and/or playing experience preferred.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES REQUIRED
  • Basic CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications are required within 60 days of hire.
  • Preventing Disease Transmission (PDT) required within 60 days of hire.

Typical Hiring Pay Range: $20.50 - $21.75 per hour.

WORK SCHEDULE

Primary shifts for this position generally include;
Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m.

- 5:30 p.m. Individuals in this position must be flexible in terms of availability; and may on occasion be required to work other shifts as needed, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
