The Town of Breckenridge Public Works Department is seeking a dedicated and customer service-oriented individual for the position of Senior Streets Operator
. Individuals in this position are responsible for performing the duties of the Streets & Parks Division, including pavement maintenance, street and sidewalk construction, alleys, bridges, rights‑of‑way, snow and ice removal, drainage facilities such as ditches, street signage, and specific infrastructure related to the Town of Breckenridge.
Additionally, the candidate must possess the technical ability to operate any equipment used by the Streets & Parks division, which includes functioning as a shift leader during the winter season. The role involves operating and maintaining heavy and light street maintenance equipment, and a general knowledge of the MUTCD manual and its application to the Town’s right‑of‑ways is required. Minimum Qualifications- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to meet requirements for CDL holders under the Town's "Drug & Alcohol Policy for Safety‑Sensitive positions under FMCSA Guidelines".
- Must be able to work four (4) 10‑hour shifts or five (5) 8‑hour shifts per week, which may include swing shifts and/or nights. Some on‑call service may be required depending on organizational needs.
- Must pass a background check with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record prior to employment.
- Valid CDL (Class A or
B), with Tanker Endorsement required within 60 days of hire. - Valid Department of Transportation Physical card required within 30 days of hire.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One (1) year experience in a crew lead position desirable, or an equivalent combination of skills, experience, and abilities.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in street maintenance or related heavy equipment field preferred.
- A general, common‑sense working knowledge of the department and maintenance procedures, construction techniques, heavy & light equipment operation, street and drainage maintenance procedures, infrastructure composition, modern road construction methods, and hand & power tool usage.
- Ability to work any shift assigned (including early morning, days, swing, nights, weekends, holidays).
- Knowledge of safe maintenance procedures and equipment operation, and ability to detect hazards and violations and recommend corrective actions.
Hiring Pay Range: $27.50 – $33.06 per hour, or $57,200 – $68,764 if annualized.
Full Pay Range: $27.50 – $38.62 per hour, or $57,200 – $80,329.60 if annualized.
Work ScheduleMust be able to work four 10‑hour shifts or five 8‑hour shifts a week that may include swings and/or nights. Some on‑call service may be required depending on the needs of the organization.
