As a Process Technology Engineer-Estane NA, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, driving innovation and capability advancement in Lubrizol's Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) manufacturing. This role actively challenges the status quo and identifies, validates, and deploys innovative technologies and methods that improve process capability, product quality, operational efficiency, and competitive advantage to Lubrizol. The engineer leads efforts to identify and validate forward-thinking Most Effective Technologies (MET), accelerates new product and process development, and closes competitive gaps through experimentation, digitalization, and advanced problem-solving approaches.
A critical part of the role is generating high-quality technical documentation to strengthen knowledge retention and accelerate capability growth across Lubrizol's global manufacturing network.
In this role, you will:
- Most Effective Technology (MET):
Develop the Most Effective Technology (MET) by benchmarking current practices and external technologies and identifying high-impact MET opportunities. Develop technology roadmaps that push the envelope of TPU manufacturing. Implement MET to enhance process capability, product quality, and operational efficiency metrics. - Process & Product Development Lead or support transformative improvements of existing processes, using advanced problem-solving and digital tools like statistical data analysis, data modeling, and AI agent-assisted analysis, to unlock performance. Support new-product scale-ups through structured experimentation (DOE) and pilot trials that push the boundaries of material performance, manufacturability, and speed-to-market.
- Manufacturing Authorization (MA) Support Provide Process Technology support to the MA process to enable safe, reliable scale-up of new products and process changes. Reinforce Lubrizol's safety culture by ensuring the execution of operational risk assessments and the Management of Change (MOC) process for raw material and process equipment changes. Identify hazards, define safeguards, document training requirements, and verify controls and procedures before startup.
- Technical Documentation & Knowledge Transfer Produce clear, well-structured documentation, capturing results, learnings, and future improvement opportunities - helping institutionalize innovation and accelerate onboarding of future engineers. Develop and maintain technical standards that support MET deployment and codify best practices across the global network.
Bachelors Chemical/Polymer Engineering, Chemistry, or related field. 8+ more years of experience chemical, polymer, or specialty manufacturing. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams across global locations. Strong written and verbal communication skills; capable of producing high-quality technical documentation. Experience in use of advanced problem-solving tools like DOE, SPC, Minitab/JMP, modeling, AI. Flexibility to attend occasional off-hour meetings with global team members.
