Junior Data Scientist

Radion Health, Inc. is hiring a Junior Data Scientist in Ohio for an onsite role focused on turning complex datasets into actionable decisions. This position supports the development and deployment of predictive models across underwriting, pricing, claims, and customer retention, while working closely with actuarial, underwriting, claims, and product stakeholders.

In this junior position, you will assist with analyzing large datasets to identify trends and opportunities, then support model building with an emphasis on performance, data quality, and integrity. You will also help design data pipelines and automated reporting, and communicate findings to leadership through clear data storytelling and visualization.

• Assist in analyzing large, complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities.
• Design, develop, and deploy predictive models for underwriting, pricing, claims, and customer retention.
• Assist with designing and implementing data pipelines and automated reporting tools.
• Collaborate with actuarial, underwriting, claims, and product teams to translate business problems into data science solutions.
• Communicate data insights and recommendations to leadership using data storytelling and visualization.
• Monitor and maintain model performance, ensuring data quality and integrity.
• Explore new data sources, modeling techniques, and technologies to enhance business performance.
• Collaborate with data engineers to support data quality, accessibility, and scalability.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Proficiency in techniques for optimizing models, machine learning, and analytical programming languages.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL
  , plus machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn

• Familiarity with cloud platforms:
  AWS
  , Azure
  , or GCP
  , and pipeline tools such as Airflow and dbt
  .
• Familiarity with geospatial data, telematics, or catastrophe modeling.
• Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI
  , including dashboard development.
• Develop and maintain understanding of the organization’s business and technology operations.
• Develop knowledge of department policies and procedures.
• Develop understanding of industry trends and technologies to improve data modeling, insights, and knowledge of regulatory requirements and model governance in insurance.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent work experience) is required.
• PhD is preferred.

Salary: USD 75,000 to 85,000 per year.
