Operations Manager
Job Purpose
Provides overall management of field operations to one or more heavy commercial projects, establishes field objectives and policies, safety, quality control, monitors construction and financial activities through administrative direction of the Project Manager, as well as mentoring Project Superintendents.
Essential Duties- Manages all field operations.
- Creates and manages the cost‑loaded project schedule.
- Coordinates labor, equipment, subcontractors, drawings, and specifications.
- Responsible for all labor and equipment costs, including input with the monthly projections.
- Identifies, evaluates, and mitigates project risk.
- Understands the contract documents to foresee problems before they arise.
- Communicates quality standards to each subcontractor and vendor.
- Assists the Project Manager in preparing monthly billings.
- Assists in estimating change orders and future projects.
- Understands and prepares EEO logs as required.
- Manages recruitment and evaluation of new talent.
- Manages the size of field staff by increasing or decreasing the crew sizes, as needed.
- Communicates with other projects to share resources.
- Assigns tasks and areas of responsibility to labor foremen and project superintendents.
- Ensures on‑site construction equipment is maintained.
- Receives materials and records the condition of shipments.
- Ensures that progress is updated timely and correctly in the project schedule.
- Creates and manages a 3‑week look‑ahead schedule.
- Tracks production units completed each week.
- Manages punch list completion and project closeout.
- Plans the work to ensure each crew member under supervision has all materials, tools, and equipment.
- Ensures crew’s safety planning is completed and followed.
- Ensures crew’s quality planning is completed and followed.
- Participates in routine schedule and coordination meetings with project staff for material, equipment, subcontractor, and labor needs.
- Maintains accurate timekeeping for crews.
- Ensures accurate daily reports and critical information are documented and completed regularly and timely.
- Coordinates and communicates engineering and layout needs with other project team members.
- Manages jobsite cleanliness.
- Prepares daily logs.

Reporting Relationships- The position reports to the Regional Leader.
- The position is mentored by the Senior Superintendent.
- The position is a mentor for:
Project Engineer, Project Superintendent, Labor Foreman. - Position works closely with Project Manager, Senior Project Manager.
- Able to communicate technical information, convey ideas or concepts to recommend suggestions, and/or develop solutions.
- Encourages teamwork at all levels on the job.

- Professional certifications preferred.
- Member of a professional organization preferred.
- Lead field labor recruitment.
- Keep up with current technology (BIM, 3D Modelling, Pipe Detailing, Surveying, etc.).
Project Size: Effectively and efficiently manage the company’s medium to large projects.
Project Team: Senior Project Manager, Project Manager, Senior Project Engineer, Project Engineer, Project Superintendent.

Education and Experience- 2‑year technical college or equivalent experience required; 4‑year degree in related field preferred.
- On‑site experience required.
- Formal apprenticeship training, journeyman improvement classes, or equivalent experience preferred.
- 10 years of general construction experience preferred.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively…
