As a R&D Lab Technician,you'llbe at the forefront of our innovation, operating high-tech equipment, running experiments, and working side-by-side with scientists and engineers to troubleshoot issues, improve processes, and keeping everything running smoothly. You'll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing, and enhance modern life. In this role, you will:
- Deliver accurate and timely laboratory results while demonstrating Lubrizol Cultural Beliefs and ensuring safe working conditions.
- Conduct experiments according to defined operating procedures, including operation of Henschel mixers, 2-roll mill, pipe extrusion, pipe fitting injection molding, and compression molding machines.
- Continuously improve work practices and procedures to enhance safety, efficiency, and quality of testing.
- Recognize validity of test data, evaluate data to ensure accuracy prior to communicating results, and notify manager regarding non-conformances.
- Document test data in Excel and Lubrizol’s internal software systems.
- Articulate and communicate lab results to scientists, managers, and business partners with timely status updates.
- Assemble, prepare, and maintain extrusion, injection molding, and other test equipment.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on equipment as defined in SOPs.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least one year of experience in an R&D lab, manufacturing, or similar industrial/academic setting.
- Working knowledge of plastics extrusion and/or injection molding required.
- Strong observational and recordkeeping skills.
- Analytical and critical thinking skills to evaluate results and identify root causes.
- Working knowledge of core mathematical/statistical concepts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Degree or professional certification in polymer science/processing or another science-related field.
- Experience in plastic or rubber manufacturing and/or testing.
- Familiarity with Lubrizol’s internal research applications (e.g., Chem Test Info , Results Uploader, gLIMS, REx, Information Warehouse).
- Knowledge of Lubrizol products, intermediates, and raw materials.

- Standing, walking, or operating equipment for extended periods

- Ability to repeatedly lift 55 pounds.
- Ability to become certified to drive a forklift.
- Availability for occasional off-hours/weekend work.
