What You'll DoAs a Business Development Manager supporting our Medical Solutions business, you will focus on market strategy development and engagement with the medical device industry. You will identify and build new business opportunities, become a trusted subject matter expert, and build relationships within medical device ecosystems. Your role involves developing go‑to‑market strategies, building strategic relationships, and driving long‑term growth.
What We're Looking For- Identify, develop, and implement new business opportunities, solutions, and go‑to‑market strategies that leverage Lubrizol's value proposition in the medical device industry.
- Develop target market and customer strategies to drive win‑win solutions for potential customers and Lubrizol.
- Educate stakeholders in the medical device industry on industry‑related updates and trends through presentations and other educational activities at trade shows and customer summits.
- Identify, negotiate, and implement innovative business models to ensure Lubrizol materials and manufacturing are selected for use in next‑generation medical devices in our target markets.
- Skillfully identify and articulate unmet customer needs to define compelling value propositions.
- Develop a strategic vision and effectively communicate persuasive business cases to executive leadership.
- Build and manage an opportunity pipeline.
- Build in‑depth relationships with potential customer organizations in the medical device industry, keeping abreast of competitive activity.
- Evaluate product capabilities to determine potential applications as alternatives to existing materials.
- Provide commercial leadership to technical teams and marketing on the evaluation of emerging technologies.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with internal departments and external partners to understand and maximize new business opportunities.
- Collaborate with technology teams to transform unmet customer needs into innovative products and solutions.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (Science, Engineering or related field).
- 10+ years of professional experience, including 5+ years in sales, new business development, or marketing.
- Proven track record as a hunter, consistently driving new business development and aggressively pursuing opportunities to expand market share.
- Background in a highly regulated industry (e.g., pharmaceuticals, medical devices, aerospace, or specialty chemicals), ideally with experience working with raw material suppliers for products subject to strict regulatory compliance and quality standards.
- Ability to convert technical expertise into actionable market insights that drive strategic partnerships and business growth.
- Proven experience training and aligning cross‑functional teams (commercial, technical, leadership) on market needs, application trends, and value propositions.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%.
- Preferred:
Commercial experience in the chemical industry, including sales or market development. - Preferred:
Strong knowledge of engineering polymers (e.g., Pebax, silicones, TPU, PVC). - Familiarity with technical and engineering sales processes in the medical device sector and B2B relationship‑building.
- Proficiency with sales tools and software (CRM platforms, Excel, PowerPoint) and exceptional cross‑functional communication skills.
