Job Description
Johnson Controls Inc. seeks HVAC Technicians to support the fast-growing HVAC business in North America.
Responsibilities- Provide customers with high‑level service to solve facility inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items.
- Act as a trusted advisor, providing solutions and outcomes during commissioning and aftermarket service.
- Recommend and quote efficiencies and upselling opportunities to ensure facilities run efficiently.
- Support startup, commissioning, and aftermarket services for the business.
- Assist in on‑the‑job training for local market mechanics and provide guidance as needed.
- Maintain safety standards, including EPA refrigerants license and handling hazardous systems.
- Travel up to 20% to support customers.
- Member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL‑CIO.
- Minimum 8 years of experience with air‑cooled and/or water‑cooled chillers, industrial chillers, AHUs, or large roof‑top ducted units.
- Experience repairing centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers, and ammonia/hydrocarbon system components.
- Proficient in HVAC systems: chilled‑water loops, pumping, compressor enthalpy, troubleshooting, rebuild, shaft alignment, vibration analysis, and large‑tonnage chiller VSDs.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and ability to use tool sets including VFDs.
- Valid EPA refrigerants license, applicable state/local licensing, and valid driver’s license.
- Pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
Pay range: $60.02 hourly (determined by the CBA/rate sheet). Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
