General Summary
The teacher serves as the educational leader at the preschool level to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe child-centered learning environment that meets and exceeds the Illinois Learning Standards Benchmarks for Education, following the approved curriculum.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Recognizes and supports the unique Catholic Mission of the school by speaking, acting, and instructing consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Works collaboratively with the pre‑k team in order to lead and nurture preschool students
- Gives evidence of lived Gospel values by being an active member of a faith community and being open to the importance of personal faith journey; strives to model the teaching of Jesus by attitude and example
- Communicates effectively with parents, students and members of the community
- Demonstrates effective planning skills by preparing lesson plans designed to implement stated goals and objectives and by incorporating school curriculum objectives in lesson plans
- Completes student assessments and student portfolios directly related to curriculum objectives and to concepts and skills taught
- Establish a consistent disciplinary approach which promotes self‑direction and positive self‑image; set high standards for student behavior and manage inappropriate behavior effectively
- Maintain a functional and pleasant learning environment
- Cooperate with school administration; work effectively with all staff members to promote positive relationships with students and parents
- At all times demonstrate professional responsibility in enforcing diocesan and school policies and regulations
- Maintain confidential information; display sound judgment in dress and general behavior
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills
- The ability to motivate children
- Excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative
- Knowledge and understanding of curriculum development and program evaluation, child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, and classroom management
- Enthusiasm in the area of early childhood learning
- The ability to successfully complete a criminal history and background check
A Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education, teaching, or related field is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits- Salary - $29,000 - $48,000.00 (Salary may be more based on experience and qualifications)
