Overall Responsibility and Job Description
Manage all activities related to the maintenance, repair, and operations of plant equipment, building, and related facilities, tooling, and automation hardware and software including the automation network. Responsible for managing any new capital equipment acquisitions and implementation. Manages maintenance staff and oversees equipment repairs, in a union environment. Responsible for all regulatory and environmental facilities permitting, documentation, and maintenance.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities- Supervise Maintenance Mechanics, Electricians, Tool & Die Makers, & Sanitation daily activities (4-8 Employees)
- Develop training plan to develop department knowledge and skill base
- Oversee parts room clerk to ensure MRO supplies and materials are maintained in the facility
- Coordinate with outside contractors any facility or equipment repairs
- Solicit bids for equipment or facility repairs
- Develop and submit capital project requests related to tooling projects, equipment repair, facility repairs, and other capital as needed by production
- Responsible for all equipment and facility preventative maintenance tasks, schedules, and tracking.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment to determine repair needs and upgrades. This includes mechanical press problems, programmable controller problems, servo control problems, and forklift issues.
- Manage fleet of leased forklifts and other material handling equipment which includes all maintenance activities, price quotations for replacement units and paperwork involved in the leasing process.
- Develop yearly department budgets
- Responsible for maintaining all MRO budgets within limits.
- A strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems including VFD Drive, PLC’s etc.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues and analyze data to identify areas for improvement
- Ability to effectively lead, motivate, and manage a team of maintenance professionals
- Be a champion for continuous improvement
- Experience with coordinating hazardous materials handling and disposal
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with team members, vendors, and key stakeholders
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage schedule
- Thorough understanding of equipment safety regulations
- Power Press and/or roll forming experience a plus
- Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent experience in manufacturing field
- 5-10 years of manufacturing experience
- 3-5 years of supervising experience
