Job Name - Industrial Maintenance Technician

JOURNAL PUBLISHING Company, a world leader in the management and distribution of print and related offerings, is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Technician in its BREESE, IL location.

The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented individual with a High School Diploma or equivalent, prior experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial production environment, and the ability to learn and apply information quickly.  Company offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.

The ideal candidate will have 7 years demonstrated mechanical experience or previous printing experience. Candidate must have a high degree of mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems, read technical diagrams and operating manuals. The maintenance team is responsible for overall maintenance, troubleshooting, cleaning and repair of facility, grounds, machinery and equipment.

• Diagnose and remedy mechanical trouble to determine repairs, teardown, repair and fabricate as needed
• Repairs, installs, adjusts, modifies and services all types of electrical equipment, plant instrumentation and relays; can layout and perform machining operations or replacement parts
• Trouble shoots hydraulic and pneumatic systems, read ladder logic and program PLCs
• Install, maintain, operate a variety of machine tools such as lathes, drills, millers, grinders, etc.
• Perform preventive maintenance functions as outlined by equipment manufacturer's manual and/or as dictated by trade standards

• 7 years demonstrated mechanical experience or previous printing experience
• Must have a high degree of mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems, read technical diagrams and operating manuals
• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred
• Must be able to learn & apply information quickly
• Must be versatile and be able to shift quickly from one duty to another
• Must be team oriented - a team player, willing to work for the good of the total team

• Normal, no adverse or hazardous conditions
• Warehouse and plant with exposure to dust, noise and fumes
• Close tolerance strength such as disassembly of motors for repairs
• Good vision (correctable to 20/20), hand/eye coordination, color code distinction
• Ability to perform repairs in tight physical locations
• Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate emergency situations
• Ability to work at heights on temporary scaffolding/ladders
• Walking and standing 100% on concrete flooring
• Position requires grasping and utilizing manual dexterity including hand/finger coordination and the utilization of color vision
• The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic chemicals and heat
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud
• Ability to use computer and calculator
• Ability to sit (5%), stand (55%), walk (20%), kneel/squat (10%) and bend (10%) for eight hours; exposure to heat and cold dependent on outside temperatures
