Product Development Designer

POSITION SUMMARY

The New Product Development Designer is responsible for the design of new products for the company’s growing steel Shed / Carport / Garage product categories. Tasks will include development of both 3D component and assembly models, as well as 2D drawings; fabrication of new designed components; and assembly of new products. This position may be required from time-to-time, depending on company priorities, to also develop new products within the company’s other product portfolios (fabric shelters, pop-ups, gazebos, etc.)

• Utilizing CREO 3D software, create new and modify existing component and assembly models/drawings for the company’s various product lines
• Working directly with the Business Unit and Sales Team, design and develop these new products, taking them from concept to prototype and then full production
• Provide all necessary assembly drawings, detailed drawings, and BOMs for Operations to manufacture these new products
• Complete any assembly, prototyping, testing and/or evaluation of these new designs

• Working knowledge of CREO 3D CAD Modeling software
• Strong knowledge of the detailed design of components from metal tube bending to roll forming and swaging
• Ability and desire to work cooperatively with others on a team
• Ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written)
• Ability to think in such a way as to produce a new concept or idea in a highly competitive Consumer Products industry
• Ability to maintain a consistently high level of attention to detail, meeting aggressive project deadlines
• Ability to develop and present new ideas and look beyond the standard solution
• Ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information
