Position: NOC Network Technician I SyncGlobal Telecom, LLC.

Job Description

As a ‘Network Technician I’, you will be responsible for identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving a wide range of network related problems effectively. In addition, this position requires the ability to listen and communicate information to customers and vendors at all levels of skill, deliver customer support both in-person and over the phone in a professional manner, train peers, work independently and as a member of a team, and maintain cooperative work relationships.

There are additional responsibilities assigned to individuals in this position based on employee interest, skill level, and needs of Sync Global Telecom to establish redundant expertise roles.

This position is not a typical computer science position assigned to working on computers. There will be varied environments including but not limited to installing cabling in attics and crawl spaces.

Responsibilities
  • Installation and Testing of network equipment and circuits
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network problems (Level
    1)
  • Customer Support (Phone and in-person)
  • Perform duties within on-call rotation
  • Update supervision on major areas of responsibility
  • Facility maintenance – Perform assigned duties for building and property maintenance (i.e. roof, batteries, AC and DC breaker checks, generators, UPS)
  • Equipment maintenance – Perform assigned duties pertaining to network equipment preventive maintenance. This includes keeping a schedule for all live equipment that matches vendor best practices on their products.
  • Train peers as needed
  • Perform Project assigned tasks, with good communication with Project Manager
  • Complete projects in a timely manner
  • Proactively identify negative network conditions when possible, and communicate to supervisor
  • Seek knowledge on current and new applicable technologies
  • Maintain cooperative work relationships
  • Perform special assignments when needed
Skills
  • Able to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve a wide range of complex data and telephony network related problems effectively
  • Understand principles and practices of networking technologies
  • General understanding of LAN/WAN protocols
  • Able to work under general supervision independently and in a team environment
  • Maintain cooperative work relationships
  • Good time management and documentation skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to type 45+ WPM with 95+% accuracy
  • Long periods of sitting
  • Able to bend, stoop, lift, carry, kneel/crawl, repetitively
  • Drive Safely and supply and maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report
  • Provide and maintain a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance
  • Able to maintain balance and climb ladders safely
  • Possess sufficient hand strength and dexterity to safely use industry tools, including sharp tools (ie. knives, scissors, cable clippers, and blades)
  • Able to work in a non-tobacco use, non-vaping environment
  • Must also be able to tolerate confined spaces and work well in a stressful environment
Education, Experience & Training

Candidate/incumbents must meet the minimum qualifications as detailed below or have a combination of education and/or experience deemed equivalent by management.

Education:
  • High School Diploma required, with an Associate Degree in IT/IS or other technical field preferred. Knowledge should include ability to troubleshoot basic layer 3 problems.
Experience:
  • In addition to education requirements, at least two years’ experience troubleshooting and repairing data and telecommunication networks is preferred.
  • Basic Layer 3 troubleshooting: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Data and Telecom troubleshooting/repair: 2 years (Preferred)
Location:
  • Applicant must live and be able to reliably commute from within 45 miles of our home office in Bremen, GA
