OSP CONSTRUCTION – Fiber Drop Installer
As a Fiber Drop Installer, you will be responsible for installing drop service cables from the company’s existing mainline to the customer’s property. This position installs cable overhead or underground based upon the customer’s existing power service. The Fiber Drop Installer also installs the cable and terminates on both ends. The mainline connection will be located in a splice closure and the customer connection will be in a Network Interface Device (NID) that the Fiber Drop Installer will install at the customer’s home or business.
This position will be considered an employee of Crossbeam, which is the fiber to the home division of Sync Global Telecom.

- Applicant must live and be able to reliably commute from within 35 miles of our home office in Bremen, GA
Pay Offered: minimum $20/hr+ (Level will be determined based on experience)

- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experienced with utility construction, trenching, digging, aerial and underground construction, fiber optic cable installation
- Experience to manage daily work load
- Certified Pole climbing & underground drop experience
- Experience with Construction safety, proper PPE, 811 dig rules

- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
- Maintain compliance with all company/safety policies and procedures
- Maintain good customer relations with the homeowner/customer.
- Troubleshoot and problem solve.
- Communicate in person or by telephone.
- Must be comfortable working around excavating equipment like trenchers, plows, bucket trucks, and the like.
- Perform manual labor, including but not limited to, digging, ladder climbing, and pulling cables.
- Work at heights typically 20 – 30 feet above ground, but could be higher at times.
- Install cable support structures like J-hooks, Rams Heads, U-guard, etc.
- Work with all types of hand tools and power tools.
- Ensure that tools are returned to the correct location and report any tools that need to be replaced.
- Keep all tools and vehicles in a state of readiness.
- Maintain a good working relationship with other utility companies
- Work independently or cooperatively with supervision as part of a team.
- Keep the Direct Report informed of progress, problems and safety concerns.
- Keep the Direct Report informed of any improvements that can be made in safety, locating or construction.
- Do Not forget, if you are not fully confident that you can safely perform the job STOP and ask for help.
- Never perform work that you do not feel safe doing.
- Distinguish colors, colors present in color-coded cable and fine print.
- Verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers via telephone or in-person interactions.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary quality and customer service.
- Safely drive company vehicles while pulling trailers.
- Supply and maintain satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report.
- Have the ability to learn new skills both on the job and in the classroom.
- Be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
- Be able to listen well and speak clear.
- Have the physical ability to perform manual labor, digging, climbing, pulling cable, lifting, squatting, pushing, pulling and bending to floor.
- Able to work long hours doing manual labor outdoors in all types of weather.
- Willing and able to work long hours, evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours as required by the workload.
- Have sufficient hand strength and dexterity to use industry specific tools.
- Able to climb ladders safely by maintaining balance and be able to carry material while climbing ladders (individual weight limit of 300 lbs. which includes 25 lb. tool carriage)
- Able to safely climb poles while maintaining balance.
- Able to work in a non-smoking (tobacco and vape free) environment
- Must be able to tolerate confined spaces and work well in a stressful environment
